Any Day Now (2012)

Any Day Now

synopsis

Winner of 10 Audience Awards at film festivals around the country and starring the amazing Alan Cumming, Any Day Now is a powerful tale of love, acceptance and family. When a teenager with Down syndrome (Isaac Leyva) is abandoned by his mother, a gay couple (Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt) takes him in and becomes the loving family he’s never had. But when their unconventional living arrangement is discovered by authorities, the men are forced to fight a biased legal system to save the life of the child they have come to love as their own. Inspired by a true story from the late 1970s, Any Day Now touches on legal and social issues that are as relevant today as they were 35 years ago.

review

Sometimes judging a movie by it’s cover really works out…Saw Alan Cumming on the cover…gay couple…Down Syndrome…biased legal system…I knew I was gonna cry!

This movie expertly portrayed the joy of new love, the moment when your life is gonna change, when things are falling into place…let me feel that without being judgemental and without resentment…WOW!…and Marco’s situation allowed me to express that deep and lonely pain…where Paul argues that the court has lost it’s focus, that they are there for Marco’s, whom no one wants…so honest…so touching!

Impressive acting…I am pretty sure Garret Dillahunt appeared in…Raising Hope!…and Alan I know from The Good Wife.

Beautiful retrospective.

REVIEW

I had been wanting to see this movie since I first heard of it becaue I love end-of-the-world movies. The story was kind of lame, but the effects were awesome! After watching this movie, I just hope I am dead or have moved to another state before we experience anything like this. I live right by the beach and know that if we ever have an earthquake this big, I will definitely be prone to experiencing a tsunami, which will definitely end me if the earthquake doesn’t.

Love Dwayne Johnson and those big ol’ arms! Surprised that the weenie in the movie was portrayed by Ioan Gruffudd, whom I have found attractive in the past. Cool to see Archie Panjabi in this movie, whom I recognized from The Good Wife. Paul Giamatti also appeared in this movie, and much to my surprise, Kylie Minogue!
